What is Caverject?

What is this medicine used for?
You are using Caverject to treat erectile dysfunction. Stress can be a possible cause of erectile dysfunction. This mainly occurs in young men. The following conditions also increase the risk of erectile dysfunction: diabetes, high blood pressure and too much cholesterol in the blood. Mental factors can also play a role. For example, a new relationship can put pressure, you may have suffered sexual trauma and you may feel a need to perform. Furthermore, too much alcohol and drugs can cause erectile dysfunction.
How does Caverject work?
The hormone prostaglandin E1 opens the blood vessels in the penis during an erection. The substance alprostadil of the drug has a similar effect operation. It opens the blood vessels during an erection. This will give you a hard and longer lasting erection. This only works if you are sexually aroused.
Use this medicine a maximum of once every 24 hours and 3 times a week.
Caverject Vialis
This product contains an ampoule of powdered alprostadil, two types of needles and a syringe with a solvent. Use the large needle to inject the solvent into the ampoule. Using the small needle, inject the solution into the trunk of the penis. Available in 5, 10, 20 and 40 mcg.

How effective is this drug?
Caverject is an effective drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. More men over 50 use the drug. As you get older, you are more likely to develop erectile dysfunction. 14 percent of Dutch men over 18 have an erection problem.
Note:Caverject only works if you are sexually stimulated.
When using this medication you may experience a painful erection. Sometimes you may develop tender lumps and scars, and the skin may swell or discolour at the injection site. Rarely, your pupils may dilate, you may experience dry mouth and nausea. There may be blood in the urine, pain when urinating and a hot feeling in the penis.
Do not combine with any other medication for erectile dysfunction. Also do not drink alcohol, this is not conducive to getting a good erection.
