How to use
Azithromycin can be used in two different forms. The drug comes in both tablet and drink form. Which form is best depends on the infection being treated. A course of treatment lasts on average one to five days and must be completed in its entirety. Take the tablets with water at the prescribed times and swallow them whole. For the drink, the amount must be measured carefully with the dosing syringe or measuring spoon.
Side effects
Azithromycin has a significant number of side effects. In some cases, gastrointestinal complaints may occur. This can manifest itself in nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. Less common side effects include: headache, fatigue, poorer vision and/or hearing, loss of taste and smell and pain in the joints. Rare, but possible: discoloration of the tongue and teeth, psychological complaints, inflamed mucous membranes, palpitations or heart rhythm disturbances, reduced functioning of the kidneys or liver and hypersensitivity to UV light.
